My Cultural Identity Essay Example

Growing up I was surrounded by Mexican culture, both in school and in the home. Everything around me reminded me of where I come from. My mom also loves to cook traditional dishes every Sunday like pozole and enchiladas which remind me of my heritage even more. We always show our dedication to our religion and cultural values such as respect for all people no matter their background or status.

I enjoy participating in events surrounding my culture such as Cinco de Mayo celebrations that allow us to embrace who we are and celebrate the accomplishments of our ancestors through music, food, and art.

My parents have encouraged me to always remember where I come from and who I am. It is important for growing up to know the culture you come from and remind yourself of the roots that make you who you are today.

My parents have kept pictures and stories of my Mexican heritage in our home so that we never forget it, even if language was lost due to school experience. They taught us values such as respect, loyalty and hard work which can be widely found across different cultures with some variations among them.

I talked about an issue with my mother, and she was livid. She told me that “the men are the protectors and if something wrong happens it’s not their fault! They just have more responsibility to take care of us young girls.” I understand her point but at the same time I know many women that can take care of themselves outside.

Some women actually have a better financial situation than men in our family. My parents do love us and treat both genders equally for the most part but sometimes they seem to favor boys over girls which is frustrating because as times change I believe everyone should be given equal rights regardless of gender or religion.

Even though most of us are from the same culture and background, we still face this sort of discrimination. It really highlights how far our society has to go in terms of acceptance and understanding for different cultures. At times I feel like it is a constant battle to not only be accepted but also appreciated for who we and where come from.

We should always strive to find ways to bridge gaps between people if it means being more open minded or educating ourselves on other perspectives that help build harmony and acceptance instead of difference and division.

We are a close knit family and our culture is represented by that. We celebrate things like birthdays, Easter, Day of the Dead, New Year’s Eve and more traditional cultural holidays like Our Lady of Guadalupe day. These events bring us together to share stories, jokes, great food and time with each other as a family.

We also find ways to celebrate aspects of being Mexican Americans in San Antonio such as Dia de los Muertos alley or attending folklorico performances at our local theatres . All these experiences give me an appreciation for my culture identity and make it special every day.

Cultural identity is another important part of one’s identity, which can be the result of the values and beliefs you grew up with. It encompasses elements such as music, language, dress style, food habits, customs and traditions that are passed on from generations to generations. Such cultural aspects help to form an individual’s self-awareness which may not only influence how they see themselves but also how others perceive them.

Identities come in many different forms; it could include gender identity or sexual orientation among other identifiers. How a person identifies is often shaped by their personal experiences as well as those around them growing up who introduced them to certain ideologies or beliefs that have become central traits in their personality today.

Identities also tend to change over time depending on one’s environment and circumstances — for example when someone lives abroad for some years and adopts some new attitudes and behaviors along the way.  All this will eventually blend together into what we would call our unique personalities or identities today!

Our culture offers a sense of security and community. Within the Latinx population, there’s always that person or family that you can count on for help in whatever situation it might be. That is something amazing about where I come from because in times of need we are all here to support one another within the same race which shows how strong our bonds really are.

Despite legal status, language barrier, religion and even educational level many Hispanic households strive with love and respect just like any other culture. It is this feeling of comfort knowing that I am appreciated by everybody around me as part of my own unique culture no matter how different they may be than myself.

It makes me feel really proud that the culture of my parents is now celebrated in this country too and it lets me keep in touch with what I was raised in. In addition to our family traditions, which help us build a sense of identity, I am exposed to various cultures from travel abroad and our diverse population here at home.

It’s interesting to see how when we are children learnings occur much easier but that each time we grow as principles, values ​​and customs are also shared through generations. Seeing cultures collide it’s fascinating because you can truly appreciate other ideas and lifestyles and compare them in your own life.

The unity and strength of Hispanics makes us proud to be who we are. Let’s not forget the “bravado” characteristic that our ancestors took with them when they step foot in their homeland years before, this characteristic is part of what defines us.

It takes a special connection to understand our culture, value it, and show respect even if you don’t share the same beliefs or customs. When these values come together as one good things start happening regardless of race or language barriers something beautiful occurs Latinos United!

School is the place a feeling of commitment and association with people in our lives creates, particularly grown-ups. For example, an instructor’s support, influence and quality can have an unfathomable effect on how a tyke sees themselves just as others. Also, all through school kids are presented to thoughts that both contend with their own and cultivate tolerant reasoning, opening them up to unheard of possibilities for self-awareness.

Many Hispanic communities have rigid gender roles, particularly for women. Women in the community may face pressure to adhere to traditional norms of housework and motherhood with little opportunity for education or career advancement.

Particularly young women may feel especially bound by these expectations, which can be oppressive and difficult to escape from without legal or resources support. Transgender people are often met with hostility even within their own families, adding a further layer of difficulty in achieving visible success through employment or enterprise.

The culture we are born into and raised in creates social structure, frames language, spiritual beliefs and modes of behavior. It is more than the sum of its parts – it can be considered a meta-level form of communication between cultures that delves deeper than what any single member would have on their own. The values an individual believes in comes from both tangible and intangible elements depending on when and where they grew up.

Our cultural identity also includes our membership with different clubs or organizations, either religious or secular; which allows us to express ourselves freely within a given society’s parameters. Fostering conversations among those who come from a variety of backgrounds is important so that we can come to recognize how each particular experience enriches one another’s life experiences.
